What is CARS? What can it do for me?
We are here to clarify it for you. Some Dealers and other websites may give you inaccurate information. Mel Grata Chevrolet will only post information we obtain from the Federal CARS website.
Car Allowance Rebate System (CARS)is the program formerly promoted as "Cash For Clunkers". This is a program that will help you purchase or lease a New, more fuel efficient vehicle. The process for the program is currently being developed and the Rebate System is said to become available to our consumers in mid-late July and will end in November 2009.
Is your car or truck an eligible trade-in vehicle?
Your Trade-in vehicle must:
* have been manufactured less than 25 years before the date you trade it in
* have a "new" combined city/highway fuel economy of 18 miles per gallon or less
* be in drivable condition
* be continuously insured and registered to the same owner for the full year preceding the trade-in
